May Writing Meme Day 4
May. 4th, 2011 10:24 pm4. How much of the story do you know before you start writing it? Do you use outlines?
When I start working on a story, I usually know how it begins and how it ends and a vague plot description for what happens in between, with usually a few of the scenes already complete in my head and just waiting to be written down. That's really about it. After that, it's all just winged.
Do I use outlines? I try to, sometimes, and then I fail epically and just start writing. I guess I don't like feeling like I'm writing the story twice; I'm really bad at using point form, so my outlines are generally in full sentences and then, I don't know, it feels like I may as well just write the whole thing with all the details. However yesterday I finally remembered to buy myself some sticky notes, and I will be sure to use them for organizing my notes.
